Relational Process

Relational Process

This process requires two participants. It has to do with the Process of being or having. It is realized by the verb be or copular verbs (used to join an adjective or noun complement to a subject) such as seem, become, appear. Also by verbs as have, possess, own.
This process is divided into two processes:

Attributive Process                                                                                    Identifying Process

to assign a quality to something                                                                            To identify something

                                                                                     


ATTRIBUTIVE PROCESS

The roles are Attribute and a Carrier of the Attribute

example: 


IDENTIFYING PROCESS

The roles are Identified and Identifier

example:  
Sarah is her name  

Sarah= Identifier  
Is = Process: relational
Her Name= Identified


you can change the order of the sentence but the functions remain the same

Her name is Sarah 

Her Name= Identified  
Is = Process: relational
Sarah= Identifier
