Processes and Participants

As learners and readers we have to comprehend that Process and Participant are labels given to an analysis that guide us through a different type of understanding of the language. It differs from a surface level analysis in a way that you can divide the segments of the text and by doing so, we start to learn and identify the meaning of the message, the type of text that it is, and how we can appreciate it. 

To understand the processes and participants we first have to understand what is the meaning of these labels, here is a quick explanation: 

Process: The process centers on that part of the clause that is realized by the verbal group, it can also be regarded as what "goings-on". The processes, besides being the verbal group, also define the clause as a whole. Some of the processes that will be disclosed in further entries of this Blog are: 

    - Material process

    - Verbal process

    - Relational process

    - Mental process  

Participants: The participants are the entities involved in the process, these variate depending on the type of process. these may include: 

    -Actor, Goal & beneficiary

    -Sayer & Quoted

    -Carrier & Attribute

    -Senser & Phenomenon 




Taking into account the video, answer these statements:
